Yoram Levy

Yoram Levy is the Principal Trumpet of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Levy was a member of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO) from 1982 to 1990 where he worked regularly with conductors Zubin Mehta and Leonard Bernstein, participated in numerous recordings, and toured Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Australia. He has maintained his relationship with the IPO over the years having joined the orchestra on their Australian tours.

Mr Levy has appeared as principal trumpet with the New Zealand Symphony, Sydney Symphony, Queensland Symphony, and the Malaysian Philharmonic. He performed as soloist with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and the Queensland Symphony. A featured soloist on TSO-ABC Classics recordings, his CD of 20th-century music for trumpet and organ with Christopher Wrench has won great acclaim.

Mr Levy is the trumpet teacher and Head of Brass at the Australian National Academy of Music. Since his appointment as Senior Lecturer in Trumpet at the Queensland Conservatorium in 1990 to the present-day, Mr. Levy has been a leading Australian brass pedagogue.

His dedication to music education has contributed to the development of exceptional brass instrumentalists and teachers. Many former students are currently employed in orchestras, bands, and educational institutions in Australia, New Zealand and Europe.
