Viviana Delgado

Session: La enseñanza de la trompeta en Costa Rica desde la primaria hasta la universidad

Born and raised in Heredia, Costa Rica. Viviana began her musical studies at age 6 at the School of Music in the District of Mercedes Norte and went on to study at the Conservatorio Castella. She then attended the National University of Costa Rica under the Tutelage of Professor Johnny Muñoz where she earned a Degree in the area of Trumpet pedagogy and performance. In addition, she has studied with professors such as Luis Miguel Araya, Juan Carlos Meza, German Paniagua and Jean-Christophe Dobrzelewski.

Viviana has performed in a number of musical groups and organizations such as the Youth Symphonic Band, the National Institute of Music, the National Institute of Music brass ensemble, second trumpet with the Castella Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, with the Symphony Orchestra of the National University of Costa Rica, and with the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Costa Rica. Viviana has performed at many international musical festivals in countries such ias North Korea, USA, Mexico, Turkey, Romania, Spain, France, Israel and many more.

She served as faculty at the School of Music in Mercedes Norte from 2001 until 2018 and at The Santa Barbara School of Music from 2005 to 2015. She currently serves as professor of trumpet at the Conservetorio de Castella instructing children aged 7-17.
