Lecture Recital: Suona la Tromba – Exploring the Performance & Technique of the Baroque Trumpet Aria

Dr. Spencer Wallin joined the music faculty of Navarro College in August 2017 where he teaches applied lessons and coaches the brass chamber music ensembles. He has had opportunities to perform with the Dallas Opera, the Dallas Winds, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, Texas Camerata, the Orchestra of New Spain, and more. Dr. Wallin has also performed recitals in Asia and Europe, including a Guest Artist recital at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China. He continues to perform as a freelance musician in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Having received a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of North Texas, Dr. Wallin also holds two degrees from the University of Michigan (MM), and received his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University (BA). Dr. Wallin has also taken part in several recording projects, including the 2014 Grammy nominated recording of Darius Milhaud’s L’Orestie D’Eschyle. His primary teachers were Jason Bergman, William Campbell, David Brown and Nick Norton.
