Recital: Polish trumpet music
Sławomir Cichor, born on the 1st August 1978. He got an honors M.Mus. degree in trumpet-playing in the class of Prof. Igor Cecocho in Music Academy in Wroclaw.. He started career from his participation in the 1999 tour of the Polish Festival Orchestra founded by Krystian Zimerman. The successive stages of his professional career make his work for the Wrocław Philharmonic Orchestra (2000) and regular cooperation with Sinfonia Varsovia (2000-2003). From 2003 to 2010 he occupied the position of the principal trumpet player in the Warsaw Philharmonic National Orchestra. Currently he works as the principal trumpet player in the Łódź Philharmonic. 2006 he has been working at the Academy of Music in Łódź, where he did a Ph. D. degree in music and where he currently works on the position of assistant professor.As a orchestral musician Cichor recorded more than 20 CDs with music of: Grzeszczak, Janaček, Karłowicz, Lutosławski, Mahler, Penderecki, Szymanowski, Tansman. Some of these recordings were rewarded of prestigious prizes like the Grammy Award.His solo career contains performances with philharmonic orchestras, wind bands and recitals in international festivals. Dr Cichor is active also as a chamber musician and performer of early music on the baroque trumpet. He won several prizes at polish music competitions and was given The Order of Merit for Services to the Polish Culture, granted by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, as well as The Brown Cross of Merit, granted by the Polish president of the republic. He is a Yamaha performing artist.
