Rafael Ancheta

Session: La realidad del trompetista salvadoreño.

Rafael Ancheta has a master’s degree in Musical Interpretation, and a bachelor’s degree with Honorific Mention by the Faculty of Music at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

 He has played as a soloist on many occasions with orchestras such as the OFUNAM (Philharmonic of UNAM), National Symphony of El Salvador, Carlos Chávez Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Bellas Artes in Mexico and the Baja California Sur Symphony.

He has performed in multiple recognized festivals such as the Pacific Music Festival in Japan, Banff Summer Festival in Canada, Instrumenta in Mexico, and others in the  United States, Costa Rica, and El Salvador.

Furthermore, he has participated in several international tours as the Principal Trumpet with the Philharmonic of Mexico City  in China, the Philharmonic of UNAM in Italy and England, the Contemporary Ensemble CEPROMUSIC in Houston, the United States, and Bogotá, Colombia and with the Carlos Chávez Ensamble in Moscow, Russia.

He has taken classes with globally renowned artists such as Reinhold Friederich, Raymond Mase, Maurice Murphy, Jens Lindemann, Joseph Pomberger, Paul Merkelo, and James Thompson, among others.

Currently, he lives in Mexico City and has been playing as the Principal Trumpet at the Philharmonic of UNAM since 2008, and at the Camerata Metropolitana since 2006. Adittionally, he has been playing as the Third Trumpet with Mineria Symphony. He is a trumpet teacher at the Faculty of Music in UNAM, Carlos Chávez Orchestra School, and the professional art school Ollin Yolliztli.
