Nitiphum Bamrungbanthum

Recital: 

Appointed Principal Trumpet of the Hong Kong Philharmonic in 2021, Nitiphum Bamrungbanthum was born in Khon Kaen, Thailand in 1997. He started playing trumpet at the age of 15, and is currently finishing his Master of Music in Music Performance and Pedagogy from the College of Music, Mahidol University. Nitiphum previously studied at Mahidol for his Bachelor of Music, all under the instruction of Dr. Joseph Bowman.

Nitiphum has participated in masterclasses with many distinguished trumpet artists including Reinhold Friederich, Jeff Conner, Jens Lindermans, and Carole Dawn Reinhart among others. Nitiphum was appointed Principal Trumpet of the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 20. He has appeared regularly as a soloist and as orchestral and chamber music performer throughout Southeast Asia. His solo performances include James Stephenson’s Trumpet Concerto No. 1, Frank Martin’s Concerto for Seven Wind Instruments, and Joseph Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto with the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra, and most recently he performed the Haydn Concerto with the HK Phil.

Previously he has served as Principal Trumpet of Million Wind Philharmonic (Thailand) and as guest performer with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and Vietnam’s Sun Symphony Orchestra. He is a founding member of the award-winning Zero Brass Quintet. Nitiphum has been awarded scholarships from the International Trumpet Guild multiple times, and in 2019 was a finalists in the ITG Orchestra Excerpt Competition.
