Marta Macierzynska

Session: Polish Trumpet Music with Slawomir Cichor

Marta Macierzynska, born in Łódź in 1981, studied piano with Beata Cywińska at the Music Academy in Łódź, gaining a diploma with distinction in 2006. She also studied with Fred Oldenburg at the Saxion Hogeschool in Enschede, Holland, thanks to a Socrates grant (2005) and completed doctoral studies with Maria Korecka-Soszkowska at her alma mater (2010). In 2014 she received a doctorate in musical arts from the Instrumental Department of the Music Academy in Katowice. She has developed her skills at numerous masterclasses given by such prominent teachers as Kurt Seibert, Bronisława Kawalla, Józef Stompel, Leonid Tamulevicz, Yossi Reshef, Kazimierz Brzozowski, Jerzy Sterczyński, and Kevin Kenner (at the Summer Music Academy in Kraków and the International Piano Courses in Darmstadt). In May 2010 she joined Kevin Kenner at his recital in the performance of Chopin’s Rondo in C major Op. 73 for two pianos.

Marta Macierzyńska performs both as a soloist and chamber musician. She was a featured artist at the ‘Musical Floralia’ International Piano Festival in Powsin near Warsaw, the International Piano Festival in Nałęczów, St. John’s Church in Brochów (the place of Chopin’s baptism), Chopin’s manor in Żelazowa Wola, the Stanisław Moniuszko Warsaw Music Society, the Karol Nicze Society in Pabianicach, and the Musical Soirees and Musica Moderna sessions at her alma mater.
