Julian Zimmermann

Session: The Historic Brass Society: Our History and Future Plans

Born in Kriens (LU), Julian Zimmermann studied modern trumpet at the Hochschule der Künste Bern with Marc Ullrich and Markus Würsch. After graduating with a teaching diploma in modern trumpet, he studied natural trumpet with Jean-François Madeuf at the Schola Cantorum Basilensis.

In recent years Julian Zimmermann has performed with various orchestras such as La Petite Bande, Musica Fiorita, De Swaen, Berlin Baroque, Neue Hofkapelle Graz, Das kleine Konzert – Hermann Max, Trondheim Baroque, Chiave d’Arco and Svapinga Consort. He has performed under Philipp Herreweghe, Hervé Niquet, Jos van Immersel and Sigiswald Kuijken.

He belongs to a young generation of natural trumpeters who have specialized in playing with authentic copies of instruments (without holes).
