Session: Warm-up Session & Colombian Music by Colombian Composers Recital

Juan Avendaño is an international soloist, principal trumpet of the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia and professor at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia.

Second prize winner of the International Trumpet Competition at the “Brass Week” in Lieksa, Finland, 2012. He won the first prize in the national competitions: “Eric Aubier” 2001 and “Ciudad de Bogotá” 2005. Finalist and Jury Prize at the International Competition in Budapest, Hungary 2009.

In Colombia has integrated several symphonic groups, within which it is worth noting the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Symphony Band. He has also integrated and collaborated with: the “YOA” Youth Orchestra of the Americas, the Andean Countries Orchestra “CAF”, The World Symphony Orchestra 24/04, Santiago de Chile Philharmonic and London Sinfonia. At the Schagerl Brass Festival in 2014 became part of the “European Brass Ensemble”.

Often acts as a soloist and guest lecturer at various orchestras, festivals and seminars. Notably their presentations in Argentina, Peru, Spain, United States, Guatemala, Armenia, Hungary, Mexico, Chile, Brazil and Costa Rica.

For years he has led the trumpet school in Colombia and premiering numerous trumpet and piano works as well as trumpet with orchestra concertos featuring Colombian composers. Also, introducing international repertoire in his country.

In 2015 Avendaño released a compact disc with original music for Trumpet and Piano and He is preparing a new one recording in 2021.

Currently, He leads the Colombian Trumpet Academy which pretend to associate trumpet players of his country.
