Jorge Giraldo started his musical studies in the symphonic band in Aguadas (Caldas) being guided by the teacher Carlos Javier Montoya and Maria Elena Duque. Later he was accepted to study at Caldas University where he studied trumpet with the teacher Juan Carlos Valencia Ramos. He completed his Bachelor Degree at National University of Colombia with Fernando Parra. He received a Premier Prix de Trompette at the CRR Rueil-Malmaison (Niveau Supérieur) and “Perfectionnement en Trompette” at the CRR Amiens with great French trumpeter Eric Aubier.
He was the winner of the first prize at the Eric Aubier Trumpet Competition and the University Competition of Trumpet in Colombia. He has attended master classes with Clement Saunier, Giuliano Sommerhalder, Ernesto Nuñez, Daniel Crespo, Francisco Flórez, Juan Fernando Avendaño, Lupercio Barbosa, Germán Murcia, Stephen Burns and Luis González.
As a soloist, he has played with the Symphonic Band of Manizales, Symphonic Band ASAB, Symphonic Band of Andes University, Symphonic Orchestra of the University of Cundinamarca, Ancient Music Ensemble of the National University, and Concert Band of Alajuela (Costa Rica). He has participated in important festivals of classical music, jazz, salsa, in France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, United States, Panama, Costa Rica and Colombia. Jorge has performed concerts in important auditoriums such as Bilioteca Luis Angel Arango, Fabio Lozano concert hall, Teresa Cuervo of the National Museum, Olav Roots of the National University of Colombia, Cathedral of Alajuela (Costa Rica), Cathédrale of Brunoy, Theatre du CRR Rueil- Malmaison and Casino of Paris (France).
He has been playing as a principal trumpet in the Symphonic Band of Manizales, Young Symphonic Band of Cundinamarca, L´Ensemble Parisien, and the Symphonic Orchestra of L´UNESCO. As an invited trumpeter, he has played with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá and National Symphonic Orchestra of Colombia.
He has been working in association with other artists such as Jimmy Bosch, Alfredo de la Fé, The Orchestra of Lucho Bermúdez, Danny Marín, Orquesta Capital, CasaBlanca Big Band, Yerick Rey, Los Elefantes, Jorge Villamizar, Billos Caracas Boys, and recordings for TV shows. He has been invited to national and international festivals. Currently he has his first record production as a soloist trumpeter “TERRA NOVA” receiving important recognition as “SILVER MEDAL” of Global Music Awards in the categories “WORLD MUSIC” and “INSTRUMENTALIST”.
He performs on Stomvi instruments and is a Warburton artist.
