Panel Session: So You Think You Want To Be A College Professor….(Co-presenters: Jason Bergman, Jason Dovel, Raquel Rodriquez, & Matthew Vangjel)
Jason Bergman will be joining the music faculty of the Brigham Young University School of Music as Associate Professor of Trumpet in August, 2018. He currently is trumpet professor at the University of North Texas College of Music, and during summers, he is a faculty member of the Idyllwild Arts Chamber Festival. He also serves as an elected board member of the International Trumpet Guild and recently hosted the 2018 National Trumpet Competition on the campus of UNT. Dr. Bergman has performed in China, Europe, the United Kingdom, South America, and throughout the United States. In 2008, he performed as Associate Principal Trumpet of the Santiago Philharmonic in Chile. Most recently, he was Principal Trumpet of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra and Mobile Opera and has also performed with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Opera, and the Dallas Winds.
He has previously been artist faculty at the Música nas Montanhas Festival in Poços de Caldas (Brazil), the Semana de la Trompeta Peruana (Peru), the Festival de Música de Santa Catarina (Brazil), the Grand Valley International Trumpet Seminar, and the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. His debut solo album, On The Horizon, was released in 2013 and is available on the MSR Classics label. In 2016, he released a second album on the MSR Classics label entitled The Lightning Fields. It won the Silver Medal in the 2017 Global Music Awards in the Instrumental Album and Emerging Artist categories. Jason Bergman is an artist/clinician for Bach trumpets.
