Warm-up Session: Physical and mental warmup for positive performance with David Collins

David studied trumpet at RSAMD in Glasgow, Sibelius Academy, Helsinki and completed an MMus in Trumpet at RIAM in Dublin graduating with Distinction.

During his studies David won numerous prizes including the Guinness Brass Bursary and Robert McCreath Memorial and was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra from 2009-2011 in performances at the BBC Proms, across Europe and Asia with conductors including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Gianandrea Noseda and Mathias Bamert.
 
Since returning to Dublin he has performed, toured and recorded regularly with the Irish Chamber Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, RTÉ Concert Orchestra and the World Orchestra for Peace, he held the position of Second Trumpet & Principal Cornet with the Ulster Orchestra between 2016-2018.
David is the Artistic Director of Dublin Brass Week, Ireland’s international brass festival, and has appeared as soloist in concerti by Haydn, Vivaldi, Neruda as well as Bach Brandenburg Concerto No.2 with Vanbrugh Camerata.
 
David was appointed as Head of Wind, Brass and Percussion at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in 2019 and currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of both the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland and the International Trumpet Guild.
