CPT Trio

Recital: Trumpet in Trio Settings (with Balaton Chamber Brass & Lantana Trio)

The CPT Trio is comprised of longtime colleagues, Mary Thornton (trumpet), Carrie Pierce (cello), and Shao-Shan Chen (piano). As musicians with varied backgrounds and extensive chamber music experience, the three have come together to explore the repertoire for this particular instrumentation. Mary and Carrie serve on the faculty of Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi, and Shao-Shan Chen at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, TX.

Highlights of the CPT Trio include a tour of Wisconsin with performances at UW-Stevens Point, St. Norbert College, and a free concert dedicated to raising money for the Day by Day Warming Shelter in Oshkosh, WI. The trio also performed at the International Women’s Brass Conference at Northern Kentucky University. Dedicated to outreach, the group has performed at elementary schools throughout the Coastal Bend with the support of the Coastal Bend Community Foundation.
