Session: The Sound of Trumpets to the South of the World
Professional trumpet player and music educator based in Santiago, Chile. Claudio started his music studies at the age of 10 in Music School Jorge Peña Hen in La Serena, Chile. He has a Bachelor of Musical Performance with a specialty in trumpet from University of Chile.
Claudio is principal trumpet with the Classical Orchestra of University of Santiago. He has played with major musicians like Ennio Morricone, Andrea Bocelli and Placido Domingo.
Claudio has a diverse background in popular music, he has participated with several bands playing different musical styles like Jazz, Salsa, Cumbia and Reggae. He has performed alongside Luz Casal, Sonora Palacios, Los Jaivas, Inti Illimani, Los Tres and Gondwana across Latin America.
As well as performing, Claudio has a passion for brass pedagogy. Longing to improve himself as a professor, in 2003 he traveled to Paris to study trumpet and pedagogy with Eric Aubier. Currently he teaches in several Youth Orchestras in Chile.
