Chuan-An Hou

Session: 

Chuan-An Hou started playing trumpet with his father at the age of 12, he said that because it looks cool playing the instrument. He then completed his bachelor in music with a full scholarship at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, where he awarded the highest recorded score on his graduate performance. After that, he completed his master’s degree at New England Conservatory under the tutelage of Ben Wright. Chuan-An is now on his fourth semester as Concertexamer candidate at Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg under Matthias Höfs.
 
Chuan-An Hou joined National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra at 2013 as principal trumpet. He has also appeared in numerous performances and recording sessions with orchestras in Hamburg, Boston and Taiwan, as well as with Hamburg Opera, Boston Chamber Orchestra, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, Singapore Symphony Orchestra.

In addition to orchestral and solo performances, Chuan-An has participated in many international competitions, including the XVI Tchaikovsky Competition, Jeju International Brass Competition, Ellsworth Smith International Trumpet Competition, USA National Trumpet Competition, Trumpet Guild Solo Competition.
 
After his graduation from Conservatory, Chuan-An has been teaching as trumpet instructor in numerous music specialized schools in central part of Taiwan and in his homecity Tainan. Also, he teaches online lessons to students from Asia, America and Europe. He initiates his Trumpet Camp for young trumpeters which held every summer. Chuan-An has dedicated in the ways of trumpet playing, which enables him to read and solve the difficulties from his students. His students have success in musical competitions or school auditions throughout the world.
