Session: Five Works for Trumpet by Black Female Composers

Chloe Swindler is an international award-winning soloist. Chloe has worked as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral musician, studio musician, and jazz artist. She won second-prize in the 2019 International Trumpet Guild Solo Competition in Miami, Florida and has been an Associate Artist with the Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass since 2018. As an orchestral musician, she is the first call substitute for the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. In November of 2019, she recorded the world premier of Ian Krauss’ Symphony No. 5 in Seoul, South Korea as the principal trumpet with the Seocho Philharmonia.

As a jazz artist, Chloe has performed at Dizzy’s Club in NYC and Scullers Jazz Club in Boston. She was a featured vocalist at the Indiana University South Bend Jazz Festival and performed as both the lead trumpeter and vocalist for the 2018-2019 Yale Jazz Ensemble. Chloe recorded “Instrument of Hope” at Capitol Records in Los Angeles in 2019 and has recorded numerous projects at Boston’s WGBH studio including John Wallace’s The Vacant Shore and the soundtrack for Final Fantasy XV.

Chloe is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of California, Los Angeles and is a student of Jens Lindemann. She holds a Master of Music degree from the Yale School of Music and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Boston University College of Fine Arts.
