Session: Breaking Boundaries: Diversity in the Trumpet World with Kate Amrine & Melissa Muñoz
Chloe Swindler is an international award-winning soloist. As a classically trained trumpetiste, she thrives on finding the sweet spots of blurring genre lines. Chloe has worked as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral musician, studio musician, and jazz artist. As a jazz trumpetiste, vocalist, pianist, and guitar player, she has performed at jazz festivals and as a featured artist during concerts for the Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass tours. In the classical genre, Chloe won second-prize in the 2019 International Trumpet Guild Solo Competition in Miami, Florida. As a chamber musician, Chloe is the founder of Chromatic Brass – an all womxn of color brass ensemble. She has been an Associate Artist with the Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass since 2018. As an orchestral musician, she is the first call substitute for the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. In November of 2019, she recorded the world premier of Ian Krauss’ Symphony No. 5 in Seoul, South Korea as the principal trumpet with the Seocho Philharmonia. Chloe has performed with both the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, the latter for which she is currently on the sublist. As an accomplished jazz and studio performer, Chloe has performed at Dizzy’s Club in New York City and Scullers Jazz Club in Boston. She was a featured vocalist at the Indiana University South Bend Jazz Festival and performed as both the lead trumpeter and vocalist for the 2018-2019 Yale Jazz Ensemble. As a studio musician, Chloe recorded “Instrument of Hope” at Capitol Records in Los Angeles in 2019 and recorded numerous projects at Boston’s WGBH studio including John Wallace’s The Vacant Shore and the soundtrack for Final Fantasy XV.
Chloe is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of California, Los Angeles and is a student of Jens Lindemann. She holds a Master of Music degree from the Yale School of Music and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Boston University College of Fine Arts.
