Warm-up Session: Buzzing for Breakfast! A Healthy Way to Start Your Musical Day: Warm-up approaches for everyone

Dr. Carrie Blosser is a multifaceted trumpet performer and music educator. Currently, she is a Trumpet Instrumentalist stationed with the U.S. Navy Fleet Forces Band in Norfolk, Virginia.

As a member of the Fleet Forces Brass Quintet and Wind Ensemble, Dr. Blosser performs over 120 concerts for military and diplomatic ceremonies, community events, and clinics per year. In addition to her duties with the U.S. Navy, she continues to teach private trumpet students of all ages and also gives master-classes, lectures, and performances across the country.

Previously she maintained a Colorado based studio of 65 students, working closely with multiple schools to deliver weekly clinics, and conducted the Rocky Mountain Concert Band. Before starting her doctoral program, Dr. Blosser was the Director of Bands at Cooper, Junior and Senior High School in Cooper, Texas. Her students’ achievements include selection to Pennsylvania, Texas, and Colorado All State Bands and advancement to the semi-finals of the National Trumpet Competition as Soloists and Ensemble Performers.

An active performer, Dr. Blosser was selected as a semi-finalist at the National Trumpet Competition as a Soloist and Ensemble member. She was also a semi-finalist in the Rocky Mountain Concerto Competition in Greeley, Colorado. Over the past two decades, she has performed with numerous orchestras across four states.

Originally from Etters, Pennsylvania, Dr. Blosser received her Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Messiah College, Master of Music in Music Education and Trumpet Performance from the University of Northern Colorado, and Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Colorado-Boulder. Her principal teachers include, Dr. William Stowman, Dr. Robert Murray, and Terry Sawchuk.

Dr. Blosser is a recipient of the National Medal of Arts for her service as a musician in the U.S. military “for personifying excellence in music and service to country”.
