André Bonnici

Session: Organizing brass events in countries of transition (Velika Gorica Brass Festival – Croatia) 

André Bonnici is a french trumpet player who started playing trumpet at age nine, he was so interested in the trumpet displayed in the living room thanks to his father who was an amateur trumpeter. After a few years in the conservatory of his hometown where he went to study with Guy Touvron at the Lyon Conservatory and graduated with a unanimous first prize in trumpet and chamber music. After that he went to Paris to study with Bruno Nouvion and André Presles (who were both solists in the Radio France and the National Orchestras). He then joined the Air Force Military Orchestra as principal cornet and then returned to Lyon to work with Pierre Dutot. In addition to his studies, André participated in festivals and master-classes with renowned trumpeters such as Timofeï Dokchitser or Pierre Thibaud.

He regularly performs with orchestras and as a soloist. Pedagogy being an essential element of his career, he holds the position as Professor of Trumpet at the Conservatoire de Montluçon (France)

In 1989 he founded with his friends from Lyon “Les Trompettes de Lyon” one of the most re-known trumpet ensemble in the world which still exists today. This ensemble has performed 3 times for the ITG conferences and tours regularly in Europe, United States, Russia, Australia, and more.

He is endorsed by Buffet Crampon (B&S, Scherzer, Besson) as well as having been joined the wonderful team of the ITG Board of Directors back in October 2017.
