Warm-up Session: Warming-up to Warming up: Reconsidering The Warm-up For Efficiency And Self-awareness

Allison McSwain has been principal trumpet of the Henderson (Nevada) Symphony Orchestra since 2012 and has also performed with the Las Vegas Philharmonic, Las Vegas Sinfonietta, UNLV Faculty Brass Quintet, and Portable Masterpieces, and she freelances and teaches in the Las Vegas community; Allison is a founding member of Argentum Chamber Works.

Allison’s primary teachers include Dr. Gary Malvern, Larry Black, Steven Trinkle, and Dr. Barbara Hull. She holds an MM in Trumpet Performance and is a current DMA student in Applied Trumpet, both from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. As a trumpet instructor, she guides students in develop the skills to make sound independent musical decisions while enjoying the process of music-making.

Allison is also an academic advisor and freshman seminar instructor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and has worked with dozens of students on learning strategies.
