Alexis Morales is part of a new generation of Central American trumpeters. He was born in 1986 in a small village at the foot of the Póas Volcano in Costa Rica. At the age of 16 he started his studies in the Music Conservatory of the University of Costa Rica with M.M Juan Carlos Meza, M.M Ricardo Vargas and the Dr. Luis Miguel Araya. Besides these teachers he has participated in several master classes with incredible trumpet players and pedagogues like Pierre Dutot, John Miller, Andrea Tofanelli, Gábor Tarkövi, Sergei Nakariakov, Alejandro Castañeda, José Sibaja, Bobby Shew, Otto Sauter, Giuliano Sommerhalder, Sebastian Gil and many others.
Since two years ago he works like trumpet professor in the University of Costa Rica in the Caribbean headquarter of this respectable institution, where he conducts the musical ensembles too.
From 2010 until 2013 he was appointed as trumpeter in the Heredia Symphony Orchestra, one of the most serious ensembles in the area and the project that gave him the opportunity to participate in four discographic productions. Inside his experience as trumpeter in orchestra, Alexis worked with the professional orchestra of the University of Costa Rica and the Costa Rica Chamber Orchestra and with the Costa Rica National Orchestra like extra in some seasons.
In 2012 he wins by audition a chair in the San Jose Concert Band and today he keeps this job sharing it with his other musical activities as International soloist and pedagogue.
Now he is Co-Director of the Yamaha Brass Academy for Latin America and Artistic Director of the Costa Rican International Trumpet Festival and the Metallurgy International Brass Festival.
His career gave him the opportunity to visit amazing countries studying, playing and teaching like Spain, Italy, Colombia, United States, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras and Panamá.
