President’s Welcome!

The 45th Annual International Trumpet Guild Conference

The Hyatt Regency • Columbus, Ohio • 5.26.20 – 5.30.20

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the ITG 2020 Conference website. The Conference this year will be at the Hyatt Regency Columbus (OH), May 26-30, 2020. We will be at the center of downtown, with the best of the city within easy reach.

This year, ITG continues presenting our time tested favorite offerings like the opening fanfare with Doc, daily warm up classes, New Works Recitals, Festival of Trumpets, master classes, recitals and concerts, and there will be even more opportunities in 2020 for all conference attendees to play during master class and ensemble sessions. We continue implementing new ideas suggested by you, the ITG membership. We will, for example, use, electronic programs, for the first time at an annual Conference. Electronic programs were in use at the January 2018 Regional Conference and at the 2019 Miami Conference with great success, and we think you will enjoy this new way of accessing information about schedule, artists, and advertisements. We will also offer plenty of posters and signs with daily schedules to make sure it is clear what is happening each day.

The Conference Artist Committee lead by Chair Jason Bergman has been working diligently for over a year, to bring you a diverse cast of soloists and presenters, including a mix of artists you may already know, and those new to the scene. We think you will be inspired and intrigued with what you hear and see at our Columbus Conference. We will again be holding all four competitions: ITG Solo Performance Competition, Orchestral Excerpts Competition, Military Band Excerpts Competition, and Jazz Competition.

During the five days of the 2020 Conference in ColumbusI encourage you to introduce yourself to people, and take advantage of the many supportive members of the International Trumpet Guild community. Meet some new people, and you will have initiated lifelong friendships. Please visit our faithful exhibitors, let them know you appreciate their efforts to build the products we need—and then buy some of them! Our vendors our important to our success as players, teachers, composers, and trumpet aficionados, and they are an irreplaceable part of our conferences.

If you have been to ITG events before, welcome back. I trust you will find this Conference as stimulating as other ITG events you have attended. If you are new to ITG—welcome! Remember that your attendance invigorates the Conference, and we appreciate your efforts to be there.
